Banquet
Another Palace is going to be the setting for the Banquet dinner, “Palácio Freixo” (Tourist Map Reference Number 14), a Baroque Mansion from the 17th century. A rich noble man had the palace built to his liking and traces of the style of Nicolau Nasoni can be detected on the façade. Nasoni also built the Clérigos Church, now the emblem of the City of Porto. We depicted the church tower on our welcome banners.
The property changed hands many times and ended up as a soap factory. After a big blaze it took many years until the City of Porto bought the property and restored it to its original splendour. After the restoration the complex became part of the Luxury Hotel chain known as Pousadas. The tastefully decorated rooms and saloons offer the right ambiente for all sorts of events. We are proud to host the banquet dinner at such a special location.
How to get there
We will meet at the Registration Desk at 18.00 and make our way together by Metro to the city centre. We get off the train at São Bento Station and walk downhill to the “Ribeira” (Tourist Map Reference Number 89).
At 19:00 we will embark on boat "S. Telmo" at Cais da Estiva (near the Carlton Pestana Hotel) and approach the Palácio do Freixo “in style” on the water way.
Alternatively people can take the Funicular to the Cais da Ribeira. But as it is more time consuming there group has to leave 30 minutes earlier that the others.
You can also go directly to Palácio do Freixo, the Banquet starts at 20:00 at Douro Room.
After the event, buses are going to be provided to take people to downtown / hotels (around midnight).
