7 performances, 4 concerts, 2 installations, 1 exhibition, 1 party
9 different venues
115 artists

Rivoli is celebrating its anniversary (20 January 1932) with a 15-hour party and, in a non-stop programme, giving the public an opportunity to discover new creations, most of which premières and created by artists from Porto.

With seven shows (four for younger audiences), four concerts, two installations, an exhibition and a late night party, it will allow everybody to circulate throughout Rivoli and discover the nine different venues, with a combination of the different programming areas present throughout the season.

Sonoscopia, Drumming, Joana Gama with Luís Fernandes and Ricardo Jacinto and an unusual concert proposed by Matéria Prima, which brings together Tiago Pereira with Valhelhas percussion group and Sensible Soccers will ensure the dominant role of music on the day.

Dance will be present throughout the day, with projects conceived by Elisabeth Lambeck and Joclécio Azevedo who, on this occasion, will be accompanied by the FEUP Orchestra. The new show by the choreographer Marco da Silva Ferreira will be premièred in prime time in the Grande Auditório, confirming how the Teatro Municipal do Porto has been following this promising artist.

In drama, Nuno Preto, one of the performers from Palmilha Dentada, will launch a work for children and António Júlio will show a new creation. Literature is also part of this festival through the voice and words of Marta Bernardes and Valter Hugo Mãe.

Two installations by Joana Castro and Emanuel de Sousa will move – from where we could see them last year – to the auditoriums foyers, transforming them through sound and light.

And because this anniversary of the city’s emblematic theatre commemorates 85 years of its history, we invited the designer and researcher Nuno Coelho to delve into the Rivoli archives and organise an exhibition that reveals what is rarely seen.
