Hotel & Venue Information

Finally we can provide you with the details to book you preferred hotel. These are available at http://www.cister.isep.ipp.pt/ecrts11/venue/.

Note the respective cut-off dates for the block bookings are the 27th of May for the Hotel Teatro and the 31st of May for Eurostars Oporto, the Hotel Porto Trinidade, Hotel Infante Sagres and Porto Palacio Hotel. The IBIS São João is offering its regular web based prices and is such not subject to any cut-off dates.

After a number of requests, we reveal the location of the banquet: Palacio do Freixo has been designed by the Italian architect Nicolau Nasoni and was built in the mid-18th century. The same architect also was responsible for the plans to the “Clerigos” church in Porto. The baroque façade of the palace buildings have been preserved through roughly a quarter of a millennium and are these days part of the Pousada network of luxury hotels in Portugal.

Discover Porto

This week we want to draw you attention to our partner program we are offering. While the conference attendees will be working in the technical sessions, we will visit with their families and partners some of the outstanding sights you might miss when pondering around on your own. The offer is free of charge, although some entry fees might occur and we will ask for pre-registration via a web interface. A detailed program will be made available closer to the conference, but current plans include the Museum of contemporary Art “Serralves” which hosts at the time an exhibition titled “Off the wall” and features well known artists like Roy Lichtenstein, Claes Oldenburg, or Andy Warhol. A retrospective starting with works from around 1946 to the present. After that let´s have a “pasteis de nata” at the cafe near the rose garden. Stay tuned for more information next week.
